Katherine Elizabeth Lewis, age 92, of Keymar, Maryland, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at her home.
Born March 16, 1923 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Susan (Murphy) Ross. She was the wife of the late Gwynn Lewis.
Katherine was a secretary for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. for most of her career; and also spent a few years working in the Treasury Department. She enjoyed fashion design, clothing, and jewelry, as well as art, music, dance, and shopping. She always enjoyed her time with family.
Surviving her are a sister, Dorothy E. McAleer of Millersville, MD; nieces and nephews, Melanie S. Boone and husband Ronnie of Keymar, Kimberly A. Thomas of Hanover, PA, Brett A. Panek of Taneytown, Kevin McAleer and wife Jeanne of Kettering, Ohio, Katherine “Kathy” Hellner and husband Joe of Millersville, Timothy McAleer and wife Valent of Cannonsburg, Pa., Brian McAleer and wife Tracey of Clinton, Michigan. Also surviving are several great-nieces and great-nephews; and even some great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Susan Margaret Panek and Patience Anna Wormcke.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD with Rev. David A. Highfield officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
