Katherine Armacost Koontz

Katherine Leona Armacost Koontz, 90, of Hanover, PA, died peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover.  Born October 2, 1930 in Finksburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Leona (Kay) Armacost.  She was the beloved wife of the late Karl Grant Henry Koontz, to whom she was married for 56 years.

Katherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church, where, over the years, she assisted in the nursery and participated in the women’s club.  She enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, and doing word search puzzles.  She loved her cats and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Henry Koontz and wife Sarah of Woodbine, Gwendolyn Heemann and husband Stephen of Timonium, and Kenneth Koontz and wife Marianne Schmidt of Eldersburg; grandchildren, Maggie Manning (Brett), Erika Koontz, Alexander Koontz, Scott Heemann (Lenin Alzamora), Erin Heemann, Ryan Heemann (Layne Price), Justine Koontz, and Dane Koontz; great-grandchildren, Braden and Ryder; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by sisters, Louise Armacost and Evelyn Armacost Schaeffer.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD, and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6th at Westminster United Methodist Church, 162 E. Main St., Westminster, MD.  A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church.  Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery at Silver Run.
