Katherine Lea Massicot Barnes, age 91 of Westminster died Monday, February 28, 2011 at Carroll Hospital Center. She was born January 16, 1920 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late James Leroy and Emma Kemper Massicot. She was the wife of the late Ralph H. Barnes. She was a life member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster and graduated St. John Grammar and High School. Before retirement she worked as a secretary for Scott Bair and the State of Maryland Social Services. Katherine traveled extensively in Europe and lived in Asia for several years.
She is survived by her son, James Lee Barnes of Westminster and numerous cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her grandfather, Benjamin David Kemper, who was the former sheriff of Carroll County and her brother, James Benjamin Massicot.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday 11:00 am
at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster with Father Louis Bianco as celebrant. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster
