June E. Long, age 95, of Finksburg, Maryland, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster.
Born June 1, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Louis and Stella (Miller) Shivna.
She worked for Black & Decker in Hampstead in tool assembly. She attended the Reisterstown Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed duckpin bowling.
Surviving her are William Long of Finksburg; sons, Richard Roberts and wife Linda of Hampstead, and Kevin Long of Finksburg; daughter, Donna Kresslein of Finksburg; grandchildren, Lori (Kresslein) Hanusin and husband Jeff, Marc Roberts and wife Hope, Greg Kresslein and wife Denise, and Michael Roberts and wife Erin; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Scott of Ohio.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Long and a sister, Ruth Stephens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Private burial will be in the family cemetery in Pennsylvania.

•Moved to a farm near Meyersdale, PA at age 5.
•Attended a one-room school, grades 1 - 8.
Actually spent 3 years in the 8th grade
because there were no local high schools.
• At age 16, went to work as a live-in
housekeeper in Cumberland, MD.
•At age 20, moved to Towson, MD
with her younger sister, Ruth.
Initially worked as a waitress.
• During WWII worked for The Glenn L.
Martin Company in Baltimore.
•After the war, worked for
Black & Decker in Towson, MD
•At age 42, went back to work for
Black & Decker in Hampstead, MD.
Retired from there at age 62.
June enjoyed braiding rugs and crocheting afghans that she would sometimes enter in the
state fair at Timonium. She also enjoyed baking which made the rest of the family happy.
Usually, there was a dessert of some kind, but if she hadn't baked something and you asked
her about it, her quote was "Here it comes, There it goes." During her stay-at-home child
rearing years, she enjoyed spending time playing cards and laughing a lot with her good
friends, Helen Isennock and Dorothy Coffman. She was an avid duckpin bowler and for many
years bowled twice a week at The Reisterstown Bowling Center.
