Judy May John

August 2, 1947 — April 10, 2025

Westminster

Judy M. John, 77, of Westminster, MD, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 10, 2025. Born on August 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Mabel Nusbaum John Mahanes and John Jean John. Judy was a 1965 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. Over the years, she dedicated herself to various roles that reflected her love of animals. She worked for Dr. David Booth, DVM, and Kable and Peck Animal Hospital. She was a dairy farmer from 1973 to 1985 and was also a relief milker for Ralph and Deb Robertson from 1978 to 1994. From 1985 until her retirement in 2012, she was employed by Carroll County Public Schools, most notably as the Building Supervisor at Manchester Elementary School. She was an active member of AFSCME Local 2741, contributing her time as an officer and to the negotiations team.

A lifelong member of Pipe Creek Church, Judy faithfully served on numerous committees and could often be found mowing the church grove-a task she thoroughly enjoyed. Her hobbies included duckpin bowling, reading, and spending cherished time with family and friends.

She was predeceased by her stepparents Ann John and Willard Mahanes, brother Douglas John, sister-in-law Sheila John and special aunt Madeleine John Weller. Judy is survived by her sister Teresa John, her twin brother Jay John, and her sister Nancy Owings and husband Harry. She also leaves behind nephews Ryan John, Tim Owings, Brian Owings, Mike Storey, Jeff Storey, David Storey and nieces Amanda Bryson, Cheryl Rill, Terri Gillis, Anita John, and Dawn Mills, as well as many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, Judy was cremated and will be laid to rest with her beloved dog Molly at a private graveside service at Pipe Creek Cemetery.
