Josephine Catherine Choma, 97, of Fredericksburg, VA, formerly of Westminster, died peacefully Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. Born July 22, 1915 in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Krol Wickouski. She was the wife of the late Michael Gregory Choma, who died in 1989.
Josephine was a clerk at the Social Security Administration from 1960-1980. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster. She was a great resource of family history, very proud of her Polish heritage, and enjoyed cooking and crochet.
Surviving are sons, Michael Gregory Choma and wife, Carol, of Mays Landing, NJ, and Richard Edward Choma and wife, Helen, of Westminster; grandchildren, Christy and Gregg Choma, Carol Perez, Elizabeth Leon, and Michael Discoll, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Rory Choma, Arison Terinoni, Christopher and Jason Perez, Joseph and Benjamin Leon, Madison, Michael, Mason and Ethan Driscoll, and Bailey Ryon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Genevieve Sybyl, and brothers, Francis, Edward, John, Albert, Andrew, Joseph, and Michael Wickouski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD with the Rev. Joe Bockenek as celebrant. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD.
The family welcomes Mass Cards, but requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
