Joseph Upton Zentgraf, 79, of Westminster, Maryland went to his home in Heaven on October 12, 2023 after bravely fighting cancer for over 3 years. He was born April 23, 1944 in Carrollton, Maryland and was the son of the late Sarah Myers Zentgraf and Joseph Elton Zentgraf. He was married to Nancy Wilhelm Zentgraf for 55 years. He is survived by his daughters Jillyn Zentgraf Hebert and her husband Christopher and Janay Zentgraf, as well as, granddaughters Kyla Joan Hebert and Kamryn Elise Hebert. He is also survived by his sisters Joyce Mote, Loretta Jean Deardorff, Joan Shank and her husband Jimmy, Janet Green and many nieces and nephews.
Joe graduated from Westminster High School in 1962, served in the National Guard and then attended Washington Bible College, graduating in 1970. He was active member of the Church of the Open Door and enjoyed singing in the choir.
He had a love for horses, hiking, the Historic West and he served the Lord at both Ranch Hope for Boys and River Valley Ranch. He volunteered for the Carroll County Equestrian Council serving as President, Vice President and Board Member.
The funeral will be held 11a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Boulevard, Westminster (21157) where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3239 Carrollton Road, Hampstead (21074). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Church of the Open Door, River Valley Ranch or Carroll County Equestrian Council. Online condolences may be offered at www.myersdurborawfh.com.
