Joseph Paul Zanella, 84, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of the late Patricia Zanella, his beloved wife of 56 years.
Born and raised in the coal region (Mt Carmel PA) he was the son of the late Paulo and Josephine Zanella, who immigrated to the United States from Northern Italy.

After college, he worked for finance and mortgage companies in Philadelphia and New Jersey. He valued the lifelong friendships he made there with faculty, staff and students.
He was an avid sports fan, especially Yankee baseball and Notre Dame football. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, any type of trivia, playing cards, and entertaining everyone around the piano. He coached Little League Baseball for 27 years (Emmitsburg Giants) and was proud of his players, fellow coaches and the successes they had together. Above all, Joe loved his family and their times spent together. His advice, storytelling and booming singing voice will be dearly missed.
