Joseph Lee Springer, 31, of Emmitsburg died unexpectedly Friday, November 16, 2012 at his home. Born November 3, 1981 in Gettysburg, he was the son of Jesse and Lynda Springer of Emmitsburg. He was the husband of Crystal Walker Springer.
Joe was a 1999 graduate of Catoctin High School. He worked for W.S. Drywall Company for many years. He was an avid LSU Tigers and Miami Dolphins fan. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing golf, mushroom hunting, walking in the woods, and spending time with family and friends. Most of all, he loved his sons and his wife.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by sons, Jesse and Nathaniel Springer of home; brothers, Steven Springer and companion, Christina, of Hagerstown, and Ernie Eckenrode of Woodsboro; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Larry Walker and wife, Melanie, of Glen Burnie, Michael Walker and wife, Melissa, of Thurmont, and Rebecca Walker of Emmitsburg; Mother-in-law, Mary “Libby” Walker and companion, Ron Runkles of Thurmont; nephews, Michael Northrup, Ethan, Clayton, and Owen Walker; nieces, Caitlin and Kasey Walker; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 21 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD. Interment will follow at Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family on behalf of Joe’s two sons.
