Joseph A. Ferrare

Joseph Ferrare, age 78, of Taneytown, died peacefully at the home of his daughter on Sunday, February 5, 2012. Born December 23, 1933 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph (Giuseppe) and Josephine Marie Frilsch Ferrare. He was the husband of the late Judy K. Pease Ferrare, to whom he was married for 32 years.

He was manager of the Playboy Nightclub in Baltimore for 15 years. He later managed the dietary departments of Maryland General Hospital and Mercy Hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed horse races, playing cards, watching old westerns and war movies, and spending time with family.

Surviving are daughter, Vicki L. Hutton, of Taneytown; sons, Michael J. Ferrare & wife, JoAnn, of Taneytown, and Dean V. Ferrare & wife, Janet, of Baltimore; sister, Josephine Gullace, of Herndon, VA; grandchildren, Jennifer Diffenbaugh & husband, Jason, Dustin Ferrare & wife, Crystal, Amanda, Heather, Kelly, Sean, Megan, & Allen-Michael Ferrare, Shawn Rubenstein, Amy Robinson, and Kaiti Bishop; great-grandchildren, Jordan McHugh, Brayden Diffenbaugh, and Tyler Ferrare; former spouse, Elaine Ferrare; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Doris Armstrong, and brother, Vincent Ferrare.

A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Gerard Steffener as celebrant. Interment will be private. A gathering of family & friends will be held in the church social hall immediately following the services.
