John "Johnny" Leslie Emswiler

John Leslie “Johnny” Emswiler, 73, of Eldersburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, December 5th, 2021, at the Dove House in Westminster.  Born February 10th, 1948, in Colesville, he was the son of the late Edward Franklin Emswiler and Elizabeth Emswiler, nee Lechlider; beloved husband of Eileen Martin Emswiler, his wife of 50 years; loving father of Daniel P. Emswiler and his companion Amanda Younger of Hunt Valley and the late David Michael Emswiler, who passed away in 2016; cherished brother Charles Eugene Emswiler and his wife Maureen; and is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Johnny, as he was known by all, was one of 8 children and was a proud Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving there from 1967 to 1968 and then continuing his tour of duty at the Key West Naval Base upon his return from Vietnam. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he resumed his lifelong love of being a mechanic. He worked for many years for Netler’s Auto Sales and Raymos Auto Service. Johnny spent many hours in his home garage working on and restoring cars, especially his beloved Volkswagens. He was an active member of the VFW post 467 in Westminster and was a member of the Sykesville American Legion. Johnny was an avid collector of tee shirts with all kinds of saying on them.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 13th, 2021, at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster (21157) where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 14th, 2021.  Interment will follow in the Colesville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Silver Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered in Johnny’s name to the Westminster, VFW, Post 467, 519 Poole Road, Westminster, MD 21157. Online condolences may be offered at www.myersdurborawfh.com.
