John C. Weatherly

THE MEMORIAL MASS FOR MR. WEATHERLY HAS BEEN RE-SCHEDULED DUE TO IMPENDING INCLEMENT WEATHER.  THE MASS WILL BE CELEBRATED AT 11 A.M. TUESDAY, MARCH 4 AT ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN FAIRFIELD.

John C. Weatherly, 87, of Fairfield, PA died peacefully Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg, MD.  Born August 20, 1926 in Hilton, VA, he was the son of the late Garland and Blanche Hensley Weatherly.  He was the husband of Betty Ott Weatherly, to whom he was married for 65 years.

John was a carpenter and worked in maintenance at St. Joseph’s Provincial House and the former St. Joseph College for 25 years.  He was a member of the Emmitsburg Memorial VFW Post 6658 and the Fairfield Amvets.  He enjoyed woodworking, whittling, camping, and collecting knives.  He loved company, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Donald Weatherly and wife Lillie of Gettysburg, PA, David Weatherly and wife Bonnie of Fairfield, PA, and Bruce Weatherly and wife Mary Anne of Fairfield, PA; son-in-law, Clarence Ohler and wife Bonnie of Fairfield, PA; sisters, Ruby Compton of Hilton, VA, and Darlyn Weatherly of Gettysburg, PA; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by daughter, Linda Ohler; sisters, Linda Weatherly and June Dalton; and brothers, Ray, Eugene, Jack, and Harold Weatherly.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Rd, Fairfield, PA.  Inurnment will follow at Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at the church an hour before the service on Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St Mary's Catholic Church, 256 Tract Rd, Fairfield, PA, 17320 or to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Rd, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL, 32256.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Emmitsburg.
