He was born November 2, 1945 in Elmira, New York. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War as a code decipherer. He worked for many years in the warehouse for Mack Truck Distribution Center in Elkridge, Maryland. He loved camping, minor league baseball, crafts, and spending time with his grandsons.
Surviving him are his devoted and loving wife of 47 years, Linda D. (Price) Symes; daughter, Stephanie N. Weber and husband Joseph of Mt. Wolf, PA; grandsons, Jamie and Joshua Weber; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ross and Anita Price of Hampstead, MD; brother-in-law, Gary Price and wife Jean of Hampstead; sisters-in-law, Charlene Price of Westminster and Cindy Price of Dundalk; step-parents, Kenneth G. and Joyce Symes of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD. Burial will follow in Greenmount United Methodist Cemetery in Hampstead.
