John William Roeder Jr., age 68, of New Windsor, passed away after a brief illness. Born December 30, 1954, he was the son of the late John William Roeder Sr., and Anna (Brashear) Roeder. He was the loving husband to Ann Roeder for 16 years.
John was an electrical engineer, working at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. After long hours at work, John enjoyed the peace and serenity of his home and free time with his family. John was a fan of the Washington Capitals hockey team. He was also a lover of the outdoors, enjoyed gardening, and working on his land. Along with his wife, John was an avid genealogist. After retirement, they were planning to travel to Europe in search of their ancestral homelands. John was a loving father, brother, Pop-Pop, and a hardworking, ethical coworker. John will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his wife John is survived by his children, Lori Roeder, Aaron Powers, and Elizabeth Roeder; Grandchildren, Emma Ann Cornell and Ella Marie Cornell; great-grandchild, Gianna Summer Rose Tryon; brother and sister-in-law: Charles Roeder and Donna Roeder; in-laws, Theresa, John, and Mary Dunn; uncle, Gus Rice and 3 nephews and 1 niece.
He was predeceased by daughter, Summer Marie Harrell.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 91 Willis St., Westminster MD. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, 13356 Glisson’s Mill Rd. Mt. Airy, MD.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
