John H. "Jack" Lippy

John Howard “Jack” Lippy, 84, of Westminster, MD, died peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Country Companions Assisted Living near Taneytown.

Born December 24, 1931 in Westminster, he was the son of the late John Vernon and Eva Harden Lippy.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Ecker Lippy.

Jack was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was then an Insurance Salesman with Peoples Life Insurance Company.  He also worked for Random House Publishing.   Jack was a member of Westminster Church of the Brethren, where he sang in the choir.  He loved to volunteer his time and talents and was a member of the Westminster Fire Department for more than 60 years.  He was a charter member of the Carroll County Fire Police, and volunteered at the Westminster Senior Center.  Jack also loved spending time in the mountains at Saunderosa Campground.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children, John Lippy, Jr. and James Lippy of Westminster and Timothy Lippy of New Windsor; brother, Robert Lippy and his wife, Karen, of Westminster; and sister Charlotte Waltz of Westminster;  2 grandchildren, Mark James Lippy and Morgan Elaine Lippy; and several nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by his brother, William Lippy and his sister, Ruth Selby.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD, with Pastor Glenn McCrickard officiating.  Burial will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
