John Scott Flynn, of Westminster, Maryland passed away on August 2, 2017 at the Cancer Institute of Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.
Born May 25, 1947 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late J. Gatley and Miriam Flynn.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Knott Flynn; daughter, Danielle Mummert and her husband David, granddaughter, Marissa of Littlestown, Pa., and daughter, Adrienne Mather and her husband Jefferey, granddaughter, Lilli and grandson, Liam of Manchester, Md.; and a sister, Paula Lindsey and her husband Richard of Emmitsburg, Md.
He was a decorated Vietnam veteran who was employed by the United States Department of State in Washington, D.C. for many years. An avid garden railway fan, he enjoyed running his live steam engines.
There will be no public visitation, and burial will be private with military honors in Pine Grove Cemetery with Father Michael Roach officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, in Westminster. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Mercy Health Foundation c/o the Cancer Institute, 301 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, MD 21202 or at mdmercy.com.
