John W. Cotingame, 77, of Silver Run, died early Sunday morning, May 17, 2015 at his home.
Born June 3, 1937 in Hazard, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John H. and Georgia Standifer Cotingame. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alta E. Miller Cotingame.
John worked for Black and Decker in Hampstead for 13 ½ years and later worked in construction. In 1972 he opened a tax franchise in Mt. Airy and retired in 2004. John was a “jack-of-all-trades”, always willing to help family and friends. He loved to travel, listen to early country music, camping and crabbing.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are children, Tina L. Martin of Abbottstown, PA, Blaine A. Cotingame and wife, Kim, of Silver Run and Jodi Kowalczyk and husband, Joe, of Silver Run; sisters, Nancy C. Utz and husband, Nevin, of Las Vegas, NV and Norma Blantz of Baltimore; grandchildren, Ben and Bryan Martin, Austin and Taylor Cotingame and Elijah, Matthew and Georgia Kowalczyk; great-grandchildren, Caden Gobrecht, Jacob Haugh and Ayden and Bryleigh Martin. He was predeceased by sisters, Louise Lucas, Wilma Hockensmith and Marcia Henderson and grandchildren, Joseph and Alexandria Kowalczyk.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Funeral Celebrant John C. Morrill officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 and 5:00 until the time of the service.
