John Thomas Althouse

John Thomas Althouse, 66, of Taneytown, formerly of Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, with his daughter by his side. Born July 14, 1955, he was the son of the late Jack Thomas Althouse and Barbara Evelyn Althouse, nee Glazer. He was the loving father to Eryn Topper.

John joined the United States Army out of high school and later became an Engineer for the Space and Defense Industry. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of his free time fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. He lived in Florida for the last 18 years and always looked forward to get-togethers with friends and neighbors. He liked to cook, kayak, was a talented woodworker.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by son-in-law, Charlie, of Taneytown; grandchildren, Carley and Jr. Topper; and brothers Joseph Althouse and James Althouse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Jeffrey Althouse; and his favorite dog, Dixie.
