Joanna M. Jones

Joanna Marie (Myers) Goeckeritz Jones, age 66, of Littlestown, PA formerly of Westminster, MD died on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Born November 29, 1957 in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of late Elwood Augustus Myers and Ruth Anna (Willet) Myers. She was the loving wife of the late Daniel “Bill” Jones, Jr. who passed in 2023 and the late Barry Carl Goeckeritz who passed in 1990. She was the loving mother of Leanna (Goeckeritz) Kikuta and Melissa (Goeckeritz) Willke. 

Raised on a dairy farm in Carroll County, Joanna grew up driving tractors, milking cows, bailing hay and raising calves that she would show at the 4H county and state fairs. She played sports at Francis Scott Key High School (field hockey, basketball and track) and Salisbury University (field hockey). She loved being outside and worked for many years at Baugher’s Orchard & Farm in Westminster, MD. She most recently spent many years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Joanna was resilient, hardworking and good-natured. She loved Jesus and people. Joanna was an active member of The Chapel in Littlestown, PA. She found great purpose in caring for others, whether it be her family, friends, grandkids, patients or teenagers in the youth ministries where she served over the years. She enjoyed sewing, going for a walk, reminiscing and just sitting down with you to chat. 

Surviving in addition to her daughters Leanna and Melissa are; sons-in-law Chad Kikuta and Nick Willke; four grandchildren, Ayla, Logan, Archie and Alex; daughters through marriage Catherine “Katie” Felicia (Jones) Stewart and husband Andrew, Heather Christine Jones; and five grandchildren through marriage Isaiah, Daniel, Meadow, Dalen, Oliver and Betsy; siblings Shirley Blean, Richard Myers, Donald Myers and wife Miriam, and Darlene Wike; many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 4-7pm at MYERS- DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787 and Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 10-11am at Hope Chapel, 75 Lamb Drive, Westminster, MD 21158. A funeral service will begin at 11am at the church with the Rev. Scott Morgan officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Chapel, 114 Bollinger Road, Littlestown, PA 17340.
