JoAnn A. Rhoten, age 76, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House.
Born January 11, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Eugene and Thelma Beatrice (Davidson) Rhoten.
JoAnn was a 1958 graduate of Westminster High School. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hampstead, Westminster Moose, and Christian Singles of St. John (Leisters) Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, camping, her trailer in Harper’s Ferry, W.Va., entertaining, and spending time with family and friends. JoAnn loved helping others and was a true friend to all. She spent most of her career at Black and Decker in Hampstead, Md., where she worked in several departments. She was currently a part-time associate with the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home.
Surviving are sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rhoten of Taneytown and Gladys R. Rhoten of Westminster; devoted friend, Betty Blauvelt of Westminster; faithful great-nephew, W. Scott Senseney and family of Keymar; and many other nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was predeceased by brothers, Elwood and Donald Rhoten and sisters, Gladys Shipley and Romaine Seipp.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hampstead with the Rev. Amy Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
