Joan Weaver Nelson age 73, of Emmitsburg formerly of Taneytown, MD, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born December 11, 1937 in Irishtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marcellus and Marie (Walter) Weaver.
Joan attended Delone Catholic H.S. in McSherrystown. She retired after 23 years with Black & Decker in Hampstead and then worked for at time at Random House in Westminster. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed spending time with family especially her granddaughter Alexis.
Surviving are son, Steven W. Nelson and fiancée Tammy M. Topper of Emmitsburg; granddaughters, Alexis Marie Nelson and Brittney Rein Nelson; brothers, George Weaver and wife Shirley of Hanover, PA, Wayne Weaver and wife Viola of Waynesboro, PA; sisters, Margaret Sites of Orrtanna, PA, and Delores Gilbert and husband James of Caladonia, PA; devoted and special cousin, Susan Topper of McSherrystown, PA.
She was predeceased by siblings, Conon, Cecil, Roy, Richard, Donald, and Mary Weaver.
Services and interment will be private.
