Joan (Blizzard) Harbaugh

December 8, 1939 — October 27, 2016

Joan Elaine Harbaugh, 76, of Sabillasville, MD, died peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  Born December 8, 1939 in Patapsco, MD, she was the daughter of the late George and Clidine Wagner Blizzard.  She was the wife of the late Martin Harbaugh, Sr.

Joan was a baker at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg for twenty years.  She attended Gates of Praise Worship Center near Littlestown, PA.  She enjoyed traveling, shopping, going to flea markets, attending country music shows, and spending time at the Riverbend Campground.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are children, Marty Harbaugh, Jr. and wife Cynthia of Taneytown, Sandra Brandt and husband Sam of Keymar, and Eric Harbaugh and wife Tina of Fairfield, PA; brothers, Roland Blizzard and wife Pat of Finksburg, Doug Blizzard of Hampstead, Larry Blizzard and companion Pat Gamber of Patapsco, and Gordon Blizzard and wife Emily of Manchester; daughter-in-law, Tina Harbaugh of Keedysville; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, Elvis Harbaugh, one sister, and four brothers.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Garrett officiating.  Interment will follow at Jacob Cemetery.
