Joan Arlene Arnsberger, age 73 of Westminster died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. She was born August 20, 1935 in Westminster, the daughter of the late Paul R. and Rachel Smith Shaffer. She was the wife of the late Henry J. Arnsberger.
She is survived by her son, Donald E. Shaffer of Westminster; siblings, Harold “Jack” Shaffer, Floyd K. Shaffer and Daniel L. Shaffer, Sr. all of Westminster; grandchildren, Brad and Cal Shaffer both of Westminster; longtime companion, Howard E. Gamber of Finksburg; also survived by 5 great grandchildren, ten nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Ronald Shaffer and sisters, Marian E. Thomas and Janet C. Souers.
A funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00 A.M. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. James Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home
