Jessie Faith Johns, age 78, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Golden Living Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 19, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Ellen (Laumann) Bathgate. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alex Johns.
Mrs. Johns worked for various retail and department stores in the Baltimore area. She was an active member of the Westminster Church of God, and loved spending time with family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Charles Richard Johns and wife Charlene of Woodbine, David Michael Johns and wife Debbie of Arbutus, Debbie McGlaughlin and husband Kenneth of Hanover, Pa., and Cindy O’Connor and husband Gerard of Littlestown, Pa.; brothers, Herbert Bathgate of Columbia, and Ralph Bathgate of Ellicott City; sisters, Betty Sullivan, Peggy Frazer, and Diane Bradshaw all of Ellicott City; grandchildren, Rick, Jr., Chad, and Shawn Johns, David Johns, Jr., Dawn Riegert, Holly Hutchins, Dr. Douglas Deiss, Jr., Nic Sigman, Wendy Peplinski, Jeremy O’Connor, Lee and Amber McGlaughlin; great-grandchildren, Wyatte, Hayden, Graham, Ashley, Crystal, Jacob, Thomas, Jessica, Makenzie, Shawn Landon, Eliana, Cameron, and Abigail Johns, Andrew Riegert, Madison Hutchins, Lillia Sanchez, Mary and Noah Peplinski; great-great-grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, and Cole; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings, Richard and Donald Bathgate, Mary Ellen Richardson, and Nancy Bergman.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, Md. Private interment will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery, near Lisbon.
