Gerald Patrick “Jerry” Orndorff, 67, of Emmitsburg, Maryland died peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, PA. Born March 17, 1948 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late John and Leila Sanders Orndorff. He was the husband of Mabel Saunders Orndorff, to whom he was married for 46 years.
Jerry worked in the Shipping and Receiving Department of Schindler Elevator Company in Gettysburg for 35 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmitsburg, the Emmitsburg Knights of Columbus, and the Blue Ridge Sportsman Club. He was a long-time volunteer of Vigilant Hose Company in Emmitsburg. Jerry enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are son, Dwayne Orndorff of Carroll Valley, PA; daughters, Angela Welty and husband David of Emmitsburg, and Yvonna Fleagle of Carroll Valley, PA; sister, Regina Kelly of Hagerstown; brothers, Edward Orndorff and wife Ann of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, and Paul Orndorff and wife Joyce of Rocky Ridge, MD; grandchildren, Michael Welty and fiancée Casey Osborne of Emmitsburg, Patrick Welty of Emmitsburg, and Peyton Fleagle; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Joan Sherman.
