Jean (Whitt) Gloyd

Jean Whitt Gloyd, 89, of Taneytown, died on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at her home. Born on April 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Malgum and Irene Whitt. She was the loving wife to Joseph C. Gloyd. They just celebrated 65 years together before her passing.

She worked at NIH for a number of years. She resigned to raise her family. She then worked at Sears for 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting; gardening or “playing in the dirt” and listening to music. She was on a bowling team, enjoyed playing bridge, birdwatching, and traveling. She loved spending time with her family the most.

Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Beverly Malzahn and husband Chris of VA, Diane Gloyd of VA, and Joseph Gloyd, Jr. of GA; grandchildren Katie Malzahn of VA, Michael Malzahn of CO; brothers Malgum Whitt, Jr., and David Whitt.

Services will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made in Jean’s name to Knights of Columbus C/O Westminster Council 1393, P.O. Box 482, Westminster, MD 21157.
