Jayne K. Koelber, age 85 of Westminster, died Thursday May 26, 2011 at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester. She was born December 26, 1925 in Columbia, PA ,the daughter of the late John Peter and Dolores Dougherty Kelleher. She was the wife of the late William Henry Koelber. Jayne was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster for 61 years.
She was a graduate of Notre Dame College of Baltimore. Later she received her Masters degree from Catholic University in Washington D.C. in social work. Employed as a social worker for over 50 years, Jayne worked at the Department of Social Services, Rosewood State Hospital, Maryland Children’s Aide Society and retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital (Psychiatric Unit). Jayne was active in a bridge club of college friends meeting monthly since attending college. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by children, Margaret Harchenhorn of Taneytown, Christopher Koelber and wife, Laura of Culpepper, VA, Cecilia Dokas and husband, Paul of Malvern, PA, Frederick Koelber and wife, Kelly of Hampstead; family friend, Diane Wentz of Taneytown; brother, John Kelleher and wife, Caroline of Bryn Mawr, PA; also survived by several grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Margaret and Delores Kelleher and great-granddaughter, Lily Ann Koelber.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:00 A.M.
at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster.
Interment will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Westminster.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities of Baltimore, 320 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
