Janet Bair Miller

Janet Rosalie Miller, nee Bair, 91, of Westminster passed away, Thursday, June 3, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.  Born July 22, 1929, in Carroll County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Howard L. Bair, Sr. and Mamie B. Bair; beloved wife of the late Vernon S. Miller, who she married January 27, 1951; loving mother of Sherman Lee Miller and Susan L. Turfle and her husband Kenneth W.; devoted grandmother of five, Jonathan M. Green-whom she and her husband raised after his mothers’ death on January 26, 1981, Ashley M. Badami, Amber N. Spindler, and twins Kenneth R. Turfle and Benjamin L. Turfle; cherished great grandmother of Sadie; and aunt to several nieces and nephews.  She preceded in death by her daughter Conni J.M. Green, sisters Gladys Bair (infant), Helen Winters, Evelyn Haines, Julia Wagner, Beatrice Fleming, Carrie Fleming, Bette Fleming, and Aileen B. Barnhart; her brothers George N. Bair, Howard L. Bair, Jr., Sterling M. Bair, and Melvin D. Bair, Sr.

She was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1946 and immediately following high school went to work at the Westminster Shoe Factory office for 10 years, follow by she was a stay-at-home mom and would help her husband as a bookkeeper for Miller Electrical Service until her retirement in 1991.  In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, knitting, and taking care of her family and taking trips with her husband to Switzerland, Hawaii, England, Spain, Mexico, and Nassau.  Special songs she enjoyed were In the Garden, Trust & Obey, and the Old Rugged Cross.  She was formerly a member of Stone Chapel United Methodist Church and had been attending the Church of the Open Door.

The visitation and funeral service will be family only and her interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered in Mrs. Miller’s name to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or The Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Boulevard, Westminster, MD 21157.  Online condolences may be offered at www.myersdurborawfh.com.
