Janet Evanick, 78, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Westminster. Born May 15, 1934 in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of the late Chester R. and Hortence Smith Brown. She was the long-time companion of Calvin Lee Lockard of Westminster.
Janet was a graduate of Westminster High School. She was a veteran of the the United States Air Force where she served as an intelligence gatherer. She worked as a materials handler for several years at Random House Publishers in Westminster. She enjoyed gardening, growing roses, feeding hummingbirds, traveling, and bowling. Janet had an appreciation for Victorian-era décor. She loved babies and children and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her charitable heart, sense of humor, and enduring love.
Surviving are son, George T. Evanick and wife Patty of Sterling Heights, MI; daughters, Donna Warner and husband Rick Jr. of Westminster, and Debra L. Evanick of Liverpool, PA; step-daughter, Terry Lascola and husband Vince of Frederick; sisters, Nancy Mann and husband Robert of Finksburg, Doris Kibler and husband Ervan of Gamber, and Lavina Hollingshead and Beverly Duane, both of Westminster; brothers, Leonard Brown of Indiana, and Richard Brown and wife Pat of Virginia; grandchildren, Pete, Joshua, Heather, Angela, Kaitlyn, Sahar, and Katya; step-grandchildren, Benjamin, Christopher, and Tony; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by many friends and other extended family members. She was predeceased by son, David M. Evanick, sister, Linda Resh, and brother, Chester Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster with the Rev. Ann Schlossnagle officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
