James Michael Smith, age 41, of Sabillasville, Maryland, died suddenly on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD.
Born January 14, 1969 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of Charles Norman Smith, Jr. of Martinsburg, W.VA, and Judith Elaine (Joy) Smith of Gettysburg, PA.
He was a 1987 graduate of Catoctin High School. Michael loved fishing, hunting, golfing, shooting pool, and puzzles. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and sports fan, especially college football. He was a jack-of-all trades and a handyman who loved spending time with family.
Surviving in addition to his parents are paternal grandmother, Eva Belle Smith of Westminster, MD; sister, Tamara Jean Manahan and husband Mark of Sabillasville, MD; nieces, Ashley Manahan Schultz and husband Dustin, Brooke, Mallery, and Jordan Manahan; nephew, Connor Manahan; great-nephew, Mason Schultz.
Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Charles N. Smith, Sr., and by maternal grandparents, Austin and Catherine Joy.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 6-9 pm and on Thursday from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main St., Emmitsburg, MD with Sister Barbara Worn officiating. Graveside services and inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
