James Denver Skeen, Jr., age 70, of Hanover, PA passed on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at home surrounded by his family and caregivers. Born June 24, 1953 in Westminster, he was the son of the late James Sr. and Eula (Norris) Skeen.
James was a graduate of Westminster High School and Rhema Bible School in Broken Arrow OK. He was the bass player and lead singer for the band Pilgrams of Song. He loved Elvis Presley and enjoyed doing impersonations. He had a love for horses, hunting and spreading the Word of God. He cherished the times he got to spend with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Shana Smith and husband Jed of Hanover; sister Barb Bare and husband Allen of Silver Run; brother Donald Skeen of Little River, SC; grandchildren, Jasmine, Blake, Peyton, David, Kara, Paris, Morgan and Remi; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents James and Eula; siblings, Lula Bowers, Rhonda Skeen, and Wayne Skeen; also, his mentor Thomas Paris.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157 from 12-2pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2pm.
