James W. Sell

James W. Sell, age 72, of Taneytown, Maryland, died suddenly on Wednesday morning, April 16, 2008 at Lorien of Taneytown.
Born January 14, 1936 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Norris F. and Helen E. (Ridinger) Sell. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deanna M. (Crouse) Sell.
Jim was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, and a graduate of the Taneytown High School, class of 1954. He began his working career with Baumgardner’s Bakery in Taneytown, then worked for a time with the Carroll Record as a typesetter, Cambridge Rubber Co. in Taneytown, retiring as a salesperson from the Taneytown Auto Parts. He was an amateur radio operator using the call number (K3ORW), and enjoyed old time Jazz and Swing Big Band Music from the 40’s and 50’s.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children and spouses, Annette C. and Steve P. Horman of Taneytown, Susan E. Myers and partner Celia L. Motz of Orland, Indiana; grandson and wife, Mark W. and Kathy J. Smith II of Littlestown, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Hunter Smith; a step-grandson and wife, Steve W. and Sarah Horman of Keymar; step-great-grandchildren, Cody, Tenley and Landon Horman; a brother and wife, Eugene and Pearl Sell of Taneytown; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Sell of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa, Betty Sell of Walkersville, Joan Sell of Manchester, Md; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, William Sell, Dorothy Lowman, Edward Sell, and Donald Sell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown with his pastor the Rev. Nicholas Brie officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Taneytown. The family will receive friends on both Sunday from 6-9 PM and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
