James Allen Scott, age 77, of Taneytown, MD, died Thursday, September 15, 2022 at his home, surrounded by family. Born December 5, 1944 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late John Anthony and Annie Elizabeth (Zeitler) Scott. Jim was married to Patricia Marie (Fowler) Scott, the love of his life, for over 60 years.
Jim was an artisan of woodworking, using his craft to bring new life and enjoyment to older homes and furniture. He was a jokester, always finding ways to make others laugh. Jim was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Westminster Council 1393.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Michele Marie Stonesifer and husband Kevin of Keysville; granddaughter, Jessica Marie and husband Douglas Brown III of Littlestown, PA; grandson, Christopher Lee Stonesifer and wife Makayla of Hanover, PA; sisters, Mary Drummond and husband Austin of Fort Myers, FL, and Barbara Matkins and husband Richard of MD. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Annie; daughter, Davida Ann Scott; brothers, George Scott and John Scott; and sister, Betty Ripley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 18, 2022 and Monday, September 19, 2022 from 12-8 p.m. at his home, 18 Middle Street, Taneytown, MD 21787, Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home staff will be available to help with parking. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick Street, Taneytown, MD 21787 with Father Rey Landicho as celebrant, and Msgr. Martin E. Field as concelebrant.
