James Michael Norton, age 77, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Carroll Hospital Center.
Born April 14, 1937 in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of the late Thomas G. and Thelma L. (DeMoss) Norton.
James was very involved and contended in many Special Olympics events in his younger years and was awarded several medals. He was very active and worked for the ARC of Carroll County for many years. His hobbies and interested included music, collecting coins, teddy bears, hot wheels, baseball caps, and watching old Western movies. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, and attended Church of the Open Door in Westminster.
Surviving James are his brother and sister-in-law, Timothy C. Norton and Karen Norton of Baltimore; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, Donald Norton, Emma Kauchick, Sara Kelly, and Phyllis Norton.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Service at 12 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD with funeral celebrant John C. Morrill officiating. Interment will follow in the Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.
