James “Jim” F. Martin, age 72 of Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday August 31, 2011 at Genesis Gettysburg Center.
Born July 11, 1939 in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late James Archie and Vicie (Hanson) Martin. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrtle (Ingle) Martin.
Jim attended New Windsor High School, and was known as a great conversationalist. He was a member of Church of the Open Door in Westminster, and worked as an insurance agent for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird and small animal watching.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Tammy Eichelberger and husband Rick of Waynesboro, PA, and Rhonda Norquay and husband Corey of Alberta, Canada; grandsons, Sean Seigrist and Stephen Martin; siblings, Robert Martin and wife Janet, Harlan Martin and wife Pat, and Ginny Hoff and husband Raymond all of Westminster, Helen Loar and husband John of Ft. Ashby, W. Va.; sister-in-law, Linda Martin of Westminster; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Church of the Open Door in Westminster with his pastor the Rev. Rick Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Methodist Cemetery near Marston, Maryland. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster and on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the church.
