James L. MacDermott, 87, of Westminster, died Sunday evening, October 27, 2013 at Carroll Hospital Center.
Born November 18, 1925 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late James H. and Leotta P. Glover MacDermott. His wife, Amelia M. Bosse MacDermott, predeceased him in 2009.
Mr. MacDermott was a 1942 graduate of Forest Park High School in Baltimore and also graduated from Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Corps. He was formerly a display artist for Adler Display in Baltimore and also drove for CATS of Carroll County. He enjoyed gardening and watching old war movies and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Colts and Baltimore Ravens.
Surviving him is a son, Sean L. MacDermott of Union Mills; grandson, Julien Husselbaugh of Taneytown and great-granddaughter Adelina Husselbaugh. He was predeceased by a daughter, Melanie Husselbaugh and sister, Shirley Evans.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2013 from the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster. A Committal Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday November 5, 2013 at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-8:00 PM.
