James E. Glacken

James Edward Glacken, 83, of Taneytown, Maryland died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Born July 20, 1925 in Emmitsburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late James Michael and Carrie Mae Lookingbill Glacken. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Wilson Glacken, his wife of 33 years.
He worked as a plumber for over 33 years and was retired from his trade. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Keysville Lutheran Church, Hesson Snider American Legion Post 120, and Monocacy Valley VFW in Harney.
He enjoyed spending time with family, camping and traveling.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene & Charles “Ron” Schwinger of Taneytown and Sharon & Robert Summers of Taneytown; sister, Margaret Zepp of Hanover, PA; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth & David Martin of Union Bridge; and brother, Leroy “Skip” Glacken of Union Bridge. He was the proud grandparent of grandson, Bobby Summers and great-grandchildren, Hayley & Zachary Summers. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by sisters, Mary Smith & Helen Pletzer and brothers, Charles, William, Maurice & George Glacken.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, Maryland with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Keysville Union Cemetery, Keysville, Maryland.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
