James Lee Carl

James L. Carl, 65, of Taneytown, Md. died unexpectedly Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Carroll Hospital Center.
Born May 7, 1943 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Lloyd Roosevelt and Blanche Catherine Crum Carl. He was the husband of the late Judith Toms Carl who died in 1993.
James was employed with Black & Decker for 24 years. He also worked in sales with Crouse Ford and Home Beneficial Life Insurance.
He was a member of Taneytown Baptist Church; member, chaplain & past president of the Taneytown Lions Club; member & chaplain of the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company; and member of the Carroll County and Adams County fire police. He served many years as secretary of the Central Maryland Football Officials Association and secretary/treasurer of the Free State Umpires organization. He was a member of the University of Maryland Terrapins Club and the Hanover Lancers Drum & Bugle Corps. He was a former member of the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band and a past president of the Francis Scott Key High School Athletic Boosters. He frequently attended worship services at Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Keymar. He enjoyed visiting residents of Lorien Nursing and Rehab Center and the former Angelic Arms Care Center.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Greg & Patty Carl of Fredericksburg, VA; son, Jeff Carl of Taneytown; brother & sister-in-law, Donald & Mary Carl of Mayberry; granddaughters, Brittany & Stephanie Carl; and several nieces & nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, August 29 at Evangelical Wesleyan Church, 1011 Francis Scott Key Highway, Keymar, with Pastor Fred Horner, Pastor James N. Hosey, and Pastor Gary F. Buchman officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, LeGore.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9pm Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
