Jacqueline "Jackie" (Nette) Azzam

December 8, 1935 — April 6, 2021

Cockeysville, MD

AZZAM, Jacqueline, “Jackie” (Nette), age 85, formerly of Cockeysville passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, she graduated from Michigan State University, a lifelong Spartan booster and Tri Delta sister. After graduation, she worked as an elementary school teacher. She met her husband of 61 years, Gene Azzam, at Peace Lutheran Church in Detroit. While living in Detroit, the couple was blessed with four children. In 1976, they moved the family to Cockeysville, Maryland. Though initially sad to leave so many friends and family in Michigan, she would make many new friends in her new home. She was an active church member, first at Faith Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and later at Ascension Lutheran Church. She was active with Meals on Wheels, the United Churches Assistance Network, the Springdale Bridge and Garden Clubs, and the Yorkewood Women’s Club. Jackie enjoyed gardening, entertaining, cooking, sewing and singing. She and her husband travelled extensively to Alaska, Europe, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Middle East and Africa. She played tennis, dominos, and card games. But she shone most brightly in the boundless love and care she gave to friends and family. If you were fortunate enough to know Jackie, you know she rarely sat down, because she was too busy helping others. Preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Mabel Nette and sister Roberta, she is survived by her husband Gene, sister Joyce Reinhard, children Jennifer Azzam, Matthew Azzam, Paul Azzam and Christine Venanzi and 6 grandchildren. A private viewing was held for the immediate family, and a celebration of life is planned for later in the year, when it can be held safely. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful friends and neighbors who supported Jackie over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Jackie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, http://giftfunds.stjude.org/Jacqueline_Azzam. Condolences may be sent to the family via www.myersdurborawfh.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Westminster, MD.
