J. Sterling Garner

J. Sterling Garner, age 99, of New Oxford, PA, formerly of Westminster, died Monday, September 28, 2009 at The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford, PA. He was born April 19, 1910 in Westminster the son of the late John and Lydia Lippy Garner. He was the husband of the late Margaret A. Bare Garner. He was a dairy farmer and a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau. He was a life member of the Carroll County Ag Center and the Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren. He worked at the maintenance department for the Carroll County Board of Education.
He is survived by brother-in-law, Robert Bare of Hampstead and sister-in-law, Mary Strine of New Windsor; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, Ralph, Rachael and Gladys Garner.
A funeral service will be held Thursday 11:00 A.M. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, with his pastor Rev. James Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
