Ione Virginia "Ginny" Gent

Ione Virginia Gent, 87, entered into eternal rest, Sunday, May 8, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home. Ginny was born July 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Emory Laverne Baust and Ione Elizabeth Baust, nee Coe.  She was twice married to the late James Smith in 1953 and then to the late Donald Gent in 1974 until his passing in 1993; beloved mother of to her three children Lisa F. Carballo and her husband Rick, Jay G. Smith and his wife Debbie, and Jesse James Smith and his wife Aimee; devoted grandmother of Clinten Carballo, Lindsay Reaver and her husband Frank, Justin Smith, Ashley Smith, and Kyle Smith; cherished great-grandmother of Cora, Sienna, and Lucy.

Ginny was a proud lifelong member of the Carroll County community where she worked at Western Maryland College, was a faithful member to the United Methodist Church where she fulfilled her love of music by singing in the choir, and actively participated in the bicycling club. Ginny was happiest when she was outside in her garden, raising her chickens, and spending time with her family.
