Inez Winslow Barger

June 3, 1910 — March 20, 2014

Inez Ursula Winslow Barger, 103, of Westminster died peacefully Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.  Born June 3, 1910 in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late John McClaren and Mary Ann Jeanette Knapp Winslow.  She was the wife of the late Benjamin Melvin Frederick Barger whom she married in 1944.  He died in 1982.

Inez attended Coe College in Iowa, Nebraska Wesleyan University, and the University of Wisconsin.  She became a school teacher and taught in Nebraska for 12 years, then in Prince George’s County for 12 years.  She was a resident of Carroll Lutheran Village, having moved there in 1983 following her husband’s death.  She resided in an independent apartment until 2005 when she moved into assisted living.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster.

Surviving are daughter, Marsha Barger and husband Robert Farinholt of Sykesville; step-granddaughters, Jessica Farinholt and companion John Haggerty of Laurel, and Cassondra Liles and husband Robbie of Garner, NC; great-grandchildren, Parker, Hannah, and Avery Liles; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by sisters, Catherine Winslow and Isabelle Brayman.
At Inez’s request, arrangements are private.  Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave, Westminster, MD, 21157.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
