H. Scott Lefko, age 62, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House.
He was born on April 6, 1952 in Dallas, PA, son of the late Harry and Rhoda (Thomas) Lefko. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Margaret “Maggie” (Guenzel) Lefko.
Scott was a graduate of Penn State. He lobbied for and ran various Job Corps, and most recently retired from Becton-Dickinson Co. in Franklin Lakes, NJ as a facilities manager. He had a 2 year career in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles in the early 70’s. He was an avid golfer, helping to organize the Carroll Lutheran Village Tournament, and helped found the Carroll Lutheran School Tournament and St. Benjamin’s Lutheran Church Tournament. He was involved with Ducks Unlimited and was a member of St. Benjamin’s (Krider’s) Lutheran Church in Westminster.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Zach A. Lefko of Westminster; step-daughters, Jessica Carey Green and husband Jason of Johnson City, TN, Lisa Carey of Johnson City, TN; step-son-in-law, Jeffrey Hebert; step-grandchildren, Payton, Molly, Jacob, Ava, and Zoe; sisters, Cindy Lefko and partner Jeannette Carter of Dallas, PA, Karen Lefko of Dallas, PA; dear friend of the family, Joyce Codd of Westminster; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Benjamin’s (Kriders) Lutheran Church in Westminster with Rev. David S. Schafer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall where there will be a luncheon and time for fellowship. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Benjamin’s Lutheran Church, 700 Kriders Cemetery Rd., Westminster, MD 21158 or to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
