Howard Arthur Green, Sr., 92, of Taneytown, MD died peacefully Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his home. Born March 2, 1921 in Gamber, he was the son of the late Aaron Arthur and Margie Mae Babylon Green. He was the husband of Catherine Snyder Green, to whom he was married for 72 years.
Howard worked in construction, carpentry, masonry and maintenance with a variety of companies throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed country and western music and spending time with family and friends. He loved to dance. He devoted his entire life to taking care of his wife and children, especially his blind son, Punky.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Howard Green, Jr. and wife Doris, and Shellman “Punky” Green all of Taneytown and Ralph Green and wife Connie, of Keymar; brother, Raymond “Bud” Green and wife Ruby of Gamber; daughter-in-law, Janet Green of Taneytown; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Robert “Bob” Green and brothers, Joseph and Francis Green.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 18 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Steven Ostendorf officiating. Interment will follow at Grace U.C.C. Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
