Hilda B. Saxton, age 85, of Mount Airy, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Airy.
Born August 2, 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Mathilda (Woppman) Cunningham. She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Sidney Saxton in 1991.
Surviving her are children, Maurice S. Saxton and wife Jan of Mount Airy, Dennis Saxton and wife Virginia of Rising Sun, Elizabeth Cofflin of Pylesville, and James Saxton of Hagerstown; sister, Emma Ayres of Perry Hall; son-in-law, Kenneth Byrd of Baltimore; grandchildren, Maurice (Will) Saxton, Eric Saxton and wife Diana, Lt. Christopher Saxton and wife Krystle, Treva Hughey and husband Herbie, Tim Cofflin, Kim Barraco, Kenneth Byrd and wife Natasha, and Raven Webster; great-grandchildren, Trent Saxton, Lucy Saxton, Xyla Hughey, Zoe-Michelle Cofflin, Heather and Jonathan Byrd, Alexis, John, and James Bridgeforth.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Rita Byrd; infant son, Gerry Saxton; and by 10 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 27015 Ridge Rd., Damascus, Maryland with the Rev. John Bromhal officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.
