Herbert Allen Miller, 65, resident of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at his home.
Born March 3, 1951 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Donald F. and Mary Teresa (Rosensteel) Miller. He was predeceased by his wife, Sharon (Wilkinson) Miller in 2008.
Herb was a 1970 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Emmitsburg. He was a sporting goods manager for many years and following retirement worked at Paul’s Pit Stop in Emmitsburg. He enjoyed watching old movies, especially Western’s, playing the Lottery, and fishing in his younger days especially with his daughter.
Surviving are daughter, Michelle “Shelly” Reynolds and husband Timothy of Millford, PA; grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Jasmyn, Aevory, and Rylee; siblings, Lynn Orndorff and husband Mike of Emmitsburg, Connie Boyer and husband Bob of Frederick, Dennis Miller and wife Bonnie of Thurmont, Judy Sweeney and husband Joe of Thurmont, Ed Miller and wife Brenda of Fairfield, Donnie Miller and wife Cathy of Thurmont, Beth Miller of Emmitsburg, Jackie Knox and husband Joe of Taneytown, John Miller and wife Michele of Thurmont, and Joe “Foot” Miller and wife Brenda of Fairfield; 24 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He is remembered by special friends, Doug Myers and Gene Martin.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Timothy Reynolds, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, MD with the Rev. John J. Holliday, C.M. as celebrant. At the family’s request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home and burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the Mass at a reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with final expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Emmitsburg.
