Herbert Nash Hewlett II, 69, of Hampstead, MD, died peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born April 10, 1947 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Frank Wilson and Ida Marie (Zimmerman) Hewlett. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Rhodes) Hewlett.
Herb was a Baltimore City Police Officer for 28 years. After retirement from the police department, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from CCBC in Catonsville and worked as a Registered Nurse for 10 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and served in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer. He enjoyed playing golf, and traveling in his motor home. He was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan.
Surviving are children, Margaret Elizabeth Yakim and family of Timonium, Herbert Nash Hewlett III of Bel-Air, and Jennifer L. Hewlett of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Frank W. Hewlett, Jr. of Baltimore; grandchildren, Alexander and Sydnee Hewlett; sister-in-law, Frances Bertrand and husband Robert of New Oxford, PA; niece, Elizabeth (Rhodes) Stonesifer and husband Wesley of Taneytown; nieces and nephew, Victoria, Dorothy, and John Bertrand, all of New Oxford, PA; great-nephew, William Stonesifer; and great-niece, Alexandra Stonesifer. He was predeceased by grandson, Adam James Hewlett.
The family will receive friends 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD. Interment with military honors will take place on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills, MD.
