Herbert E. “Stretch” Dorsey, age 56, of Westminster, Maryland, formerly of Ashville, Va., died peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born July 3, 1956 in Virginia, he was the son of Rainey Dorsey of Florida and the late Pearl (Stuart) Dorsey. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cynthia Woodyard Dorsey.
Mr. Dorsey was an active member of Dorsey Christian Chapel Church in New Market, MD, and enjoyed watching westerns and nature shows on television.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by sisters, Fredia James and husband Arnold of New Jersey, Rainer Perry and husband Byron of Virginia; brother, John Dorsey of New Jersey. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives.
He was predeceased by a brother, Cornell Stuart.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Westminster United Methodist Church, 162 E. Main St. Westminster, with Rev. Helen Dorsey and Rev. Anthony Washington co-officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
