Taneytown

Henry Carl Heine, Jr., 71, of Taneytown, Maryland died peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Lorien Taneytown.

Born on March 18, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland he was the son of the late William and Doris (Dorfler) Fales.  He was the loving and devoted husband of 44 years to Linda Patricia (Weller) Heine.

Henry was a graduate of Archbishop Curley High School class of 1965, and a graduate of Loyola College in MD with a B.S. degree in computer science.  He was a very proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country from 1966 to 1970 during the Vietnam War.  He worked for the Mass Transit Administration of MD for 23 years.  His greatest love was serving the City of Taneytown as the current City Manager since 2010, Past-Mayor and as a Past-Councilman.  He served as the Past-President of both the Carroll County Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League and the Maryland Mayors Association.  He was a member of the American Legion Hesson Snider Post #120 Taneytown.  Henry was very devoted to his family and especially loved his grandchildren who affectionately loved to call him “Opa”.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are daughters, Michele Heine of Thornton, CO and Catherine Rodriguez and husband Jason of Thornton, CO; grandchildren, Gavin and Lilly Rodriguez; sisters, Mary Steigen and husband Richard of Parkville and Donna Mallory of Ellicott City; brother, George Heine and wife Kathy of Sykesville.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown.  A Memorial Service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, October 31st at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall in Taneytown.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL  32256.
