Henry Wallace “ Wally” Groves, Sr., age 75, of Westminster, Maryland, died on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born March 8, 1934 in Front Royal, Virginia, he was the son of the late John H.Groves and Mattie Belle Martin. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Muriel Alice (Hepner) Groves in 2006. He served in the U. S. Army during Korea.
He was self-employed and worked side-by-side with his wife for more than thirty years at the Westminster Auction, and in later years ran a snowball/ice cream truck in Westminster.
Surviving are children Henry Wally Jr., Kimberly, and James Groves, all of Westminster; siblings, Donald Groves, Sonny Groves and Virginia Parton; grandchildren, James Kevin Groves, Jr., Amber Tiffany Groves and Heather Bornman, great-grandchildren, Dylon Healy and Lily Reena; special friends, Susan Armstrong and David Blaker.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Starrett.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Westminster Church of God, 642 Lucabaugh Mill Road, Westminster with Pastor David Sulcer, Pastor Robert Groves and Pastor Keith Groves officiating. The family will receive friends 1:00 PM until time of service at the church.
